Christmas 2010

Hello Heartland!  I have to say, “I miss you!”  It took a blizzard, but we had to cancel both of our services last weekend.  Well I have checked the forecast, and there is no snow in our immediate future!  So I just wanted to take a second and fill you in on a couple very important things for us as we head into the final weeks of the year.

First of all, don’t miss this Sunday!  We are going to wrap up the series I Know It When I See It, by talking about the idea of “humility.”  Humility is definitely one of those things that are hard to define, but easy to spot...and there has never been a better example of humility than from Jesus himself.  So, this Sunday, we are going to take a look at the life that Jesus lived and see what it means for humility in our lives.  It’s another fantastic teaching by Mike Breaux, so don’t miss it!

This coming Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec 21 and 22) we will celebrate the season with A Heartland Christmas!  A Heartland Christmas has become an annual tradition for us, and is easily one of the highlights of the year.  This year is going to be no different...in fact, this may be our best Christmas program ever!  I want to encourage you to extend as many invitations as you can for these two nights; I hear from people all year long who say how grateful they are to have found Heartland and how their first exposure to Heartland was being invited to A Heartland Christmas.  You can have a huge impact on people’s lives simply by extending an invitation!  Both nights we will begin right at 6:30 pm.  Come early so you can find a place to park, get a cup of coffee and drop your infant through 3rd graders off at LAUNCH.  Older kids are welcome to attend with you in the main auditorium.

I also want to take this opportunity to encourage you to finish the year strong financially.  This time of year we do a great job of showing our love to friends and family through the giving of gifts, and we have an opportunity to do that with God as well.  In addition to the act of worship that giving is, there is also a tangible need around Heartland.  Simply put, we are taking two weekends off this December due to the weather and Christmas Day; but just because we don’t have church doesn’t mean we don’t have our normally weekly expenses that we need to cover.  You can make a special year end gift several ways:  you can give at the Christmas services this year, you can give online at heartland.cc, or you can mail a check to the church.  However you give, know that it will be an act of worship that is always carefully stewarded.

See you Sunday,
Jon

On Vision weekend I shared a desire to increase communication with those in the church who wanted to stay up to date on all that God is doing in and through us. As part of that desire, I will be frequently posting updates to this website; many times going into more detail than we have time for in a Sunday morning announcement. Sign up if you would like to receive an automatic email that lets you know when I’ve posted an update.
